Horseback riding lessons and what you need to know
Horseback riding: it's good for the body and soul.
Riding teaches balance and coordination. You will use lots of lower body, plus; abdominal, and arm strength to stay on, direct the horse, and lift saddles.
Horses are mentally stimulating. You are riding a 1,000 pound animal; learning, bonding and growing with them through your relationship as horse and rider.
2. Sign me up!
Miss Jackie teaches beginners of all ages but her biggest passion is with children, teaching as young as 5 years olds.
During your first lesson you will need to sign a liability and bring some basic gear: 2 inch heeled boots, long pants, water bottle and weather appropriate attire are required. Bring your own helmet or use one of mine.
All lessons are private and will take place at The Kemp Ranch in Arvada unless otherwise requested or planned. (working students may be around helping during lessons)
To sign up for a lesson please visit the scheduling tab above
3. What to expect
The 2 most important things to remember during the lesson are safety and fun. Please never hesitate to ask any questions. I am still learning a lot about horses everyday too!
During a one hour lesson students will help groom and tack (~20 min), ride (~30-45 min) and untack/put the horses away and help clean up (~10 min)
Students will learn about horsemanship and the basics of riding. They will start with steering, stopping, trotting and proper positioning. Students will advance through the stages of riding as Miss Jackie sees fit, each lesson is tailored to the individual student.
Parents and guardians can choose to stay and enjoy the view or drop off and pick up.
I also offer leasing and working student opportunities.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask! I can't wait to meet you and your little ones and keep the Colorado western heritage alive and well!
Yeeehaw!
